What is Oxandrolone (Anavar)?
Oxandrolone a unique oral anabolic steroid hormone that is also known as Anavar. Anavar was first synthesized in 1962 and has been used in the medical treatment of catabolic disorders for over 30 years. Anavar is unique because it has great oral bioavailability (can be taken my mouth) and is resistant to liver metabolism. Anavar also does not get aromatized into estrogen compared to testosterone. The primary use of Anavar is to prevent frailty and the loss of muscle mass due to aging (sarcopenia) and other related catabolic clinical disorders such as HIV -related muscle waiting, severe burn injuries, trauma after surgery and hepatitis.

Anavar has been shown to:

  1. Decrease visceral fat and total body fat
  2. Increase protein synthesis in skeletal muscle
  3. Increase dietary energy and protein intake
  4. Increase nitrogen retention
  5. Increase muscle function, growth, strength and physical activity level
  6. Substitute for the natural loss of androgen and estrogen hormones

What is Oxandrolone?

Oxandrolone is a man-made steroid, similar to the naturally occurring steroid testosterone.

Oxandrolone is an "anabolic" steroid that promotes the growth of muscle tissue. Oxandrolone is used to help you regain weight lost after surgery, severe trauma, or chronic infections. Oxandrolone is also used in people who cannot gain or maintain a healthy weight for unknown medical reasons. Oxandrolone is also used to decrease muscle loss caused by using steroid medicines, and to reduce bone pain in people with osteoporosis.

Avoid:
Important Information:
You should not use oxandrolone if you have prostate cancer, advanced kidney disease, high levels of calcium in your blood, breast cancer, or if you are pregnant.

Some people using anabolic steroid medicine have developed life-threatening side effects on the liver, spleen, and blood vessels. These conditions can occur without warning or symptoms and can lead to liver failure, internal bleeding, cancer, stroke, heart attack, or death. Talk with your doctor about the risks and benefits of using oxandrolone.

Oxandrolone is a synthetic, orally active anabolic-androgenic steroid. Oxandrolones interact with androgen receptors in target tissues. Oxandrin is indicated as adjunctive therapy to promote weight gain after weight loss following extensive surgery, chronic infections, or severe trauma, and in some patients who without definite pathophysiologic reasons fail to gain or to maintain normal weight, to offset the protein catabolism associated with prolonged administration of corticosteroids, and for the relief of the bone pain frequently accompanying osteoporosis. Side effects include: elevated aminotransferases (ALT, AST), lipid abnormalities (e.g., decreased HDL cholesterol concentrations). Cardiovascular side effects have included edema, with and without congestive heart failure. Oxandrolone may inhibit the metabolism of oral hypoglycemic agents. In patients with edema, concomitant administration with adrenal cortical steroids or ACTH may increase the edema.

Muscular Dystrophy:
Oxandrolone may potentially prevent muscle degeneration in muscular dystrophy patients, helping them to maintain their strength and prolong their ability to walk and carry out daily activities. Oxandrolone is currently not recommended for long-term treatment in DMD patients.

Main risks and target organs:
There is no serious risk from acute poisoning, but chronic use can cause harm. The main risks are those of excessive androgens: menstrual irregularities and virilization in women and impotence, premature cardiovascular disease and prostatic hypertrophy in men. Both men and women can suffer liver damage with oral anabolic steroids containing a substituted 17-alpha-carbon. Psychiatric changes can occur during use or after cessation of these agents.

Bodybuilding:

Dosage:
The medical and nonmedical uses of Anavar are quite different. Prescribed Anavar should be taken as per the instructions of the doctor. Anavar is usually recommended to be taken two to four times every day, but this is not a rule. The drug's prescriptions often recommend milk or food for those who experience stomach upset. The dosage is always determined by the condition that is being treated and the overall health, age, and gender of the person. The standard dosage of Anavar is 2.5mg to 20mg per day. The average dose is 5mg to 10mg per day. The course of Anavar is usually two to four weeks. Some cases demand prolonged use for a period of up to three months.

The nonmedical use of Anavar is different. Oxandrolone should be used before and during the bulking up phase. There should be a cycle and, subsequently a post cycle therapy. The dosage of Anavar for bodybuilders and athletes varies depending on familiarity and tolerance. Beginners should start with 15mg to 25mg per day. Intermediate dosage may be 20mg to 80mg per day. Beginners who progress to the second or third week may increase the dose up to 50mg per day. It is better not to exceed 50mg. Intermediate users should not increase their dosage beyond 100mg per day. Even advanced users are recommended to start with 80mg per day and keep a cap at 100mg per day.

Women bodybuilders and athletes should opt for a much lower dose. Around 10mg per day is deemed effective enough for beginners. The dose may be increased based on the outcome and experience of side effects or the lack of it. Women users should not go for doses anywhere close to 50mg per day. The cycle should be four weeks long at least. The maximum is six weeks.

So, what is considered the most harmless anabolic steroid with regards to the manifestation or development of unwanted side effects or negative reactions? The answer is Anavar, also known as Oxandrolone. After all, it is well known that in the first place it was developed specifically for women and babies. In fact, it has such valuable qualities that Anavar is and will remain an indispensable. As previously stated, many people know this drug as Oxandrolone. It is extremely popular in bodybuilding, as it is considered one of the best anabolics used during the cutting phase and to accelerate intensive weight loss. In general, Oxandrolone has a number of incomparable advantages against other analogues. Compared with other anabolic steroids, Anavar is not as harsh when it comes to the suppression of the body's natural testosterone production. But, that does not mean that Anavar will not or may not have a negative effect on the testosterone level in one's body. Over time and with excessive use of ANY anabolic steroid, the natural level of testosterone in the body can be greatly reduced or even shut down. But this typically depends on the individual's response or tolerance level of the steroid used.

History of the creation of Oxandrolone:
Christopher Jung and Rafael Pappo worked on the creation of this unique anabolic steroid in Searle Laboratories. The two researchers first introduced this substance back in 1962. What interested both of these men was the fact that Anavar had such a weak androgenic effect in relation to its anabolic effect. And so began the story of the creation of Oxandrolone - a symbol of the safe use of steroids. Anavar was first released to the pharmacological market in 1964 in the United States. Initially, the drug was prescribed to activate muscle growth in disorders caused by involuntary loss of body weight. Also, the drug was used in the treatment of HIV / AIDS. In addition, Oxandrolone has shown partial effectiveness in the treatment of such an ailment as osteoporosis. You can see just how beneficial Anavar was in the medical field. But, despite these benefits, negative media coverage and illegal use by bodybuilders caused issues. And the company Searle Laboratories in 1989 stopped the production of this drug. Then, Bio-Technology General Corporation, who later changed the name to Savient Pharmaceuticals, began to manufacture this product. All clinical trials were crowned with success, and the company released in 1995 this steroid called Oxandrin. This drug has been actively used in the treatment of weight loss due to HIV infection, Turner syndrome, as well as alcoholic hepatitis. In addition, the drug was used as an adjuvant in the event of protein catabolism caused by the long-term administration of corticosteroids.

Oxandrolone has often been called a weak steroid. Part of the reason for this is that use of a Class I steroid alone never is maximally effective. The other cause is that bodybuilders and authors in the field sometimes make unfortunate and unreasonable comparisons when judging anabolic steroids. If say 8 tablets per day does little, then a drug is pronounced useless or weak. And traditionally, oxandrolone was available in 2.5 mg Anavar tablets, proving only 20 mg daily with such usage, which totals to only 140 mg/week. For comparison, testosterone at that dose also gives little results. Indeed, few anabolic steroids give dramatic results at that dose, but they are not called weak on that account. The proper conclusion is that such Anavar tablets were individually weak, but not that the drug lacks potency. As higher-dose oxandrolone tablets have become available, the oxandrolone's reputation has improved. However, it still is not a particularly cost-effective Class I steroid, and if used alone cannot match the performance of a good stack.

The most used steroid in women's fitness and bodybuilding:
Alright so this one will be for the ladies mainly as anavar is the most used steroid in women's fitness and bodybuilding anavar is used for bulking and cutting cycles the reason why it's women's #1 recommended steroids is because oxandrolone which is the medical name of Anavar has a low androgenic activities which means it doesn't convert into the toxic di-hydro in your body which makes it one of the mildest anabolic steroids out there and that's good news for the ladies. Before I get into the side effects lets include some of the good effects.

Anavar is beneficial for the following:

  • Helps get rid of body fat due to an increase in your metabolic rate.
  • Strength gains
  • Boost cardio endurance.
  • Fat burning
  • Muscle Hardening
  • Vascularity
  • Lean muscle mass gains
  • Increase your red cell count.
  • Increase nitrogen retention in your muscle.
  • Enhance muscle hardness.
  • Diminish muscle fatigue.

Anavar Cons:
Anavar is an illegal substance when used outside the confines of medicine. Therefore, if you are caught buying it on the black market (which means online or from a dealer), you can be prosecuted. This usually results in a fine or prison time, depending on the number of offences and the country you are in. Anavar may be touted as a 'mild steroid', however it still has negative effects on the body. One of these is an increase in cholesterol; which may impact blood pressure for the worse. This process is caused by anavar increasing testosterone levels significantly and being an oral steroid, which can negatively impact LDL cholesterol levels by stimulating hepatic lipase. Anavar may also cause some hair loss due to it being a compound derived from DHT (dihydrotestosterone). This is the hormone which can cause hair follicles to weaken and even fall out. Thus, it is possible that some thinning may occur during a cycle. Testosterone levels are likely to become suppressed also, taking a person weeks or months to enjoy the testosterone levels they had pre-anavar. This happens as anavar causes a dramatic surge in testosterone, which the body detects as unnaturally high. As a result, the body signals the testes to stop producing as much testosterone, so when anavar administration comes to a halt - testosterone levels plummet. This can also result in testicular shrinkage post-cycle. Anavar may also cause an increase in acne as steroids can increase sebum production, increasing the chances of pores becoming blocked by this waxy substance. Anavar is a very expensive steroid to buy, which may put some people off - who may opt for a less expensive steroid which can produce bigger gains (in muscle size). However, a cheaper compound may also wreck more havoc on their health, compared to anavar. Therefore, the average person won't run anavar for more than 4-8 weeks (due to the sheer cost), with women taking it for a shorter time compared to men. Also cycling anavar infrequently can be an effective strategy to prevent the body from building up a tolerance to the drug over time.

Is Anavar Legal? No.
When anavar (oxandrolone) was first produced, it was perfectly legal to buy for bodybuilding purposes. Doctors would simply prescribe it to people wanting bigger muscles, more strength or to burn excess fat. However, due to the Anabolic Steroids Control Act in 1990, anavar became illegal to purchase without a medical reason. Thus regular prescriptions to bodybuilders and athletes were no longer issued. Today, anavar is illegal for recreational use in almost every country in the world, except Mexico where it can be bought at a local Walmart store for example. In Thailand the law states that anavar shouldn't be issued out via a prescription, due to steroids being 'class S controlled drugs'. However, bodybuilders visiting Thailand have reported buying anavar via local Thai pharmacies with ease. This is often done without a prescription, although a doctor can issue a prescription on the spot (in exchange for a small fee). If a person in the U.S is caught in possession of anavar, they can be fined up to $1,000 and spend 1 year in jail. This is applicable for a first time offense.

Oxandrolone is much more anabolic than androgenic, so women and those seeking less intense steroid regimens use it. Many also value oxandrolone's low hepatotoxicity relative to most other orally active AAS.
